A fix for Test Movie’s low framerate in Flash CS3
Tim Knauf
We’ve often encountered a terribly low framerate when using Test Movie (Command-Enter or Ctrl-Enter) in Flash CS3. Strangely, the same .swf file would always play just fine using the external Flash Player application.
It turns out that the workaround for this is to call up the Flash help system (Help → Flash Help). Your Test Movie framerate will now be back at the correct rate. Bizarre, no?
Thanks to titohov at kirupaForum for this tip.

Hi Titohov, nice to hear from you. I’ll check with Vin, our sometime graphics guy; I believe he’s using CS4.

Hey Tim…yeah, this help panel trick works great in CS3. Sadly in CS4, I seem to be having similar slow playback issues again in the IDE =/ It’s weird, when I first installed Flash CS4, I don’t remember the playback being slow, but now I’m getting slow playback again for some reason. I did recently install the new flash 10 developer player so I don’t know if that’s what caused the slowdown. The help trick doesn’t seem to make a difference for me in CS4. Has anyone else seen this issue in CS4? Any suggestions?
